Surprisingly, yes he did.

We spent 4 hours going over the car and making an inventory of all the parts, an hour talking money and 20 minutes drinking a pint.

£500 deposit paid on the spot, and a lorry due in 2 weeks to take it all away.

Distraught to see it go, but equally relieved I don't have to feel disappointed every time I see it sat there.

I've lost 000's on it but got much more back than I expected and one less project laying around.

Now just the Athena to get rid of and I'll be BX- less!

There'll always be the legacy f you orrible lot to look forward to...

Slight change of direction (and because I fancied a convertible again), the BX's have been superceded by something a little more simple and fitting to the Cornish life...

Anal update, the Valver was reprieved after being purchased by a very excited Scotsman, who paid a £500 deposit then failed to collect, apologised and forfeited his deposit.

Fucking Car is gonna haunt me! Alas, now it has main stage in the workshop. Promises promises...

The Athena, (now fully healthy and looking rather nice actually) almost ended up going to Scotland after an offer of full price plus delivery. I was looking forward to the road trip but an eleventh hour local boy sniped it and common sense had to prevail. One very disappointed Scotsman. Alas, life.

That just leaves the Valver, Clares Korean soul crusher and the 106 I picked up cheap recently. Mind you, that's going soon, cnuts want £170 a year for insurance on it! Fuck knows, that's more than the Vectra was, and the Ragtop, in fact, it's fecking extortion.

Looks like my replacement might be a wafty old X300 Sovereign, just because I've never had one and I ddesperately want a slush box again. Insurance on the 3.2L... £140. Go figure.

Yeah I had seen it but I wasn't going to weigh in just to get shot.

The deal wasn't complete, still in planning but the game changed. He was perfectly amicable, disappointed but amicable.

All along I was expecting him to evaporate.

He'll find what he wants, probably more locally.

I would hope that nobody would judge without knowing the facts.

Sadly, I expect that somebody probably would!

Jay, its yours until the money has been handed over - you do what you want and sell to who you want.

Just as if I sold my car and the purchaser chose to scrap it, paint it pink and stick dildos all over it or never wash it ever again - its no longer my concern and I have no say.

Oh, I'm far beyond giving a toss what th BXC bandits have to say, I just didn't want an argument breaking out on Daves thread.

The Athena left today for its new home in Somerset and a courtesy call shows one very pleased new owner.

Me, I'm loving the Jag.

:D Thought you would. I had an S type (the original one) back in the 70's.
I got it real cheap from someone pissing off to Canada or Australia. something like that anyway. beautiful driver but

I couldnt afford to run the ftwat as It was round the time we all got issued petrol coupons the price jumped that much. Took me 6 months to sell it and a think I made £50 on it.
They are paying tens of thousands for the fucking things now. :x

This fucker was £400 with a years ticket and shows no ailments after it's first 300 miles. I would have preferred the V8 or Double 6 but at this price it was an easy decision. If it remains reliable it's a years luxury wafting for pennies.

At the end of the year if I still like it I'll either spend some money on it or buy a nicer one and strip this for spares.

We'll see how it goes, at the moment I have to keep topping up the electricity as the alternator went duff. New one on order.

This has now sold and gone to its new home in Ireland.

Perhaps Shane it's new owner will be along at some point, though having read the car's forum history, he may already be among us.

I wish him a long and happy stewardship.

Au revoir mon Valver!

Somehow I doubt it.

It cost me a fortune and untold anguish over the years and was nowt but hassle (not entirely it's own fault). Just glad to have drawn a line under it.

It did however find me some very good friends and acquaintances over the years and they will long outlive the car! :)
