Re: Restoration

I do intend to buy one over modding jaz that much, would be quicker to strip the shell and go from there, i'd probably stick a much better lump in as well (wonder if i can get an AJ133 from Jag??). But making Jazz a proper 4x4 (ie an engine in the boot) would be fun. Though to be honest i want a Delorean before either of these things!

See, that makes PERFECT sense to me!

That said, not the strongest of engines, but fun when they work.
I'd still rather like to get a 2.5 V8 from an SP250. Great car, fucking awesome engine.

PRV engine is fine once you have both of the turbos bolted on!

Not a V8 though, and it should always have had a V8.

[bow] He's set 6 exhausts each side on a fabricated manifold. They come out, up and back, the back one being the shortest and the front the longest.

The way they are in line with each other, gives the strong impression of two wings of a Dragon 8) 8) 8) 8)

Yes, Doc. The Jag V12 wasn't very good. Rarely ran right and when it did, it never felt much over 200 BHP, I never drove one that seemed anywhere near the quoted 300. Old Ed Turner's V8 was a fine drag racing lump in its day. I liked the attention to detail. Screwed in brass plugs which could be removed to clean the crankshaft oilways for example. Quite a few of them were blown at the time and they rarely blew up. What was the 4 litre Majestic Major engine like?

Oh mate, you should see a stripped out 10.45 litre Gardner engine, it's utterly beautiful, every single component is made with awesome attention to detail.
It's the kinda thing that makes me nurse a semi frankly!
The only bastard with them is, they only come apart in one order, and they only go back together in one order, get it wrong, and you gota take the whole thing apart again, and start from scratch.
Even more confusingly, the order in which they come apart is not the reverse order of the way it goes back together!

Majestic Major?? I'm sure I should know what that is?!

Ever had any experience with the Daimler 2.5 V8?? I really like them, never had one apart, but they sound soooo good!

:D Yeah it was the motor in the Dart. Only ever serviced one, Real sweet engine but the chassis was a mess. No additional stiffening to cope with the super torque the thing produced.

It was always described as "lively" For that read, dangerous when wet. :P
