As I delve further into the innards of the transfer and g/ box extension, what would be nice,
is if someone could direct me to where I could get either some working drawings or schematics.
I'm aware that one of the drive shafts runs through the busted coupling, therefore I need to know things like what clearance Citroen gave it originally.
I have designed a repair, but there are a few commercially manufactured ones out there that may do the job and save a lot of time.

Even the "exploded" parts diagrams aren't going to help you with dimensioning are they? :?
You're going to need the manufacturing diagrams which probably aren't readily available but as its long out of production (and you won't be seen as competing with them) then a nice letter (rather than an email that will be immediately binned with other spam) to the 'box manufacturers Manufacturing Manager may strike lucky?

Next to no hope mate, even Citroens own references to the 4x4 setup was all done in pen.
The likelyhood of getting hold of anythign useful would be next to fuck all I imagine..

I do have a mate at Citroen France, and I'll gladly ask, but dont hold your breath!

By pen, I take it you mean technical drawings drawn by a draughtsman on a drawing board? Even so it was usual practice in British Industry to microfilm the originals as routine but certainly as an archive process when large drawing masters were cleared out. From these they could produce a working drawing again.
But,in these particular techniques I have no idea if Citroen used more primitive approaches in their drawing control.

While I agree with W2g, that they would have saved them somewhere, I see where your coming from Doc.

Failing any drawings / sketches, does anyone have the shaft that runs through??

If I had one 'o they, I could take my own readings and determine what I could get away with.

I couldn't understand why they had made the splines so small when all the other splines on the drivetrain are at least 2/3 times bigger.
I'm beginning to tie this to the amount of clearance they have allowed for the inner shaft, but to test this I need to know what these are. So, ideally I suppose, a spare shaft would be better?? [chin]

Very much doubt any drawings or microfiche survive.
Even dealers couldn't get tech shit for 4x4's..
Pug on the other hand may have some?

Dont have a shaft, but I'll ask Dom Weston, he may have!

Citroen have a huge area of the Consevatory dedicated to the archiving of technical and sales data, but i can see a number of problems. Its not indexed, its in France and i think a large amount was destroyed in a fire many years ago!

First port of call for me would be to email Cit customer services UK. So far every question iv'e asked (even rediculous ones), they have managed to answer!

Thanks Vanny, I'll give them a try.

There's a bit Pug outfit round the corner from me, so I'll see what they have as well Doc.

Thanks agin guys.
Once the crownwheel was out and I separated it from the carrier, things became a bit clearer.
The spigot is made in 2 1/2 's, pushed into the carrier and are then what looks like electron beam welded together.
Noticing that the male spline wear is massive, 50%, I looked at the 2 main bearings.
The LH 1 is near the end of the casing, but the other is a lot further from the end and this appears to be the root cause of the problem.
They are both quite large (45 mm ) taper roller jobs but the one on the splines side has deteriorated noticeably, allowing the nose of the splines to move, ergo wear then failure.
That said, a decent sized spline would not fail with 50% wear and indeed would be making horrible noises long before.

This thread requires more pics...
... all landings are in fact controlled crashes, and any crash you can walk away from is a good landing. The definition of a good pilot is a man with the same number of landings as take-offs.
