Umm, don't laugh.....

Post by smiffy » 04 Feb 2010

I've just spent a long time pricing up all the bits I might need to rebuild the front suspension and steering on my CX turbo!
Last time I drove it, the front arm bearings, ball joints, and driveshafts were totally FUCKED!!!
Luckily I have a pair of ABS shafts from a car I scrapped ages ago, so the roll bar link arms are £50 each, top ball joints are £48 each, bottom ball joints are £35 each but track rod ends are £90 each! Ohh, and I will need some tyres if I can find some second hand 390 metric ones....
I've got a rough idea now, and I just might be bringing myself around to the idea of taking the engine out of it, so the clutch can be done, and at the same time clean up, and get some nice person to weld the battery tray as required!
I'm thinking just as soon as it gets a little warmer....late march perhaps?
I miss my CX!

but now that most of them are muslim, I find bacon and sausages work better!

You're going to take the engine out, all on your own?
Blimey!

You're a tad of a lieghtweight really mate, I've been up there in all weathers, including many degrees below zero.

Pull your finger out, get the bike sorted, then get on with the car. There is no excuse.
By late March there will be even less of it!

Where the FUCK are you getting prices from?

My local factors has most of the ball joints for the front of a CX at sensible prices (eg bottom ball joint for £8 last one I bought)

I'll get some other prices too. There's also a complete CX here for breaking with good suspensions and other bits on. (which I need to break soon, so if you want bits, get down here!)

Bear in mind I've also offered to sort out the mess of wiring for the GTi Turbo too.

Thy has no excuse now.

Smiffy has more offers of help than he could possibly handle. I don't think it would be impossible to get everything done in a single weekend, but time will tell!

:) I reckon no more than 10 minutes work! If 4 of us lifted the body, with that cow shit and rust and everything, the engine and box would stay where it was.
