I assume the atomised fuel hangs in the pot and is compressed without spark on the first stroke, then injected again on the second stroke and compressed with spark...

But, rather a lot of my guesswork is supposition... this has actually really thrown my ample knowledge of the I.C.E. into disarray... :roll:

It loiters in the inlet port since it's an indirect injection engine..
There are modern direct injection petrols, but not this!

I wasn't aware that the injectors fired twice over 4 strokes though, this is news to me, and doesn't seem to tally with the way my car injects...

erm... it's a 2 row ECU... if that makes it a 4.1 then yes, and 4.1 does ring a bell..
