Howdo guys
Noticed that chubleys developed an odd knock in the steering dept lately. A search on BXC showed up that the lower bush can come loose.
I've had the plastic shroud below the steering wheel off and pushed the bush back in but it just drops out again. The only suggestion that I could find was to stick a cable tie round the column. Is this the best and only method?
Awaiting you're learned responses (and general abuse)

I prefer peening(?) the bottom of the steering column tube. Push the bushing up, then strike the bottom of the yellow metal cylinder around it all with a flat cold chisel. Aim to put in a vertical crease to shrink ever so slightly the opening at the bottom of the tube.

I've found that the best method too. I have a selection of cold chisels and found the 6" x 1/2" wide is the easiest to manipulate.
Peening:- Spreading material in a uniform manner to perform a mechanical lock or to remove play due to wear.

Jubilee clip works better than zip ties, if you dont fancy peening your shaft!
