ok all you techys , my lads got an electric assisted bike , may have mentioned it before , its powered by 4, 12 volt 10 ah batteries .
I think they are wired in series connection to live of first , earth of first to live of second etc until earth of 4th battery back to connector to make the circuit , anyone have any ideas as to how to get more power out of it (legally or not :D )

If i read right, you've got a PD of 48v. Slap another 12v battery in and you've got 60v, then it will go, and probably eat its self alive.

The best option is called an engine! Or pedal harder you wimp

If they are wired that way it'll give you 48V - an extra battery of the same type wired in the same way would give you 60V (and possibly a shorter motor life!) If any of the cables/connections get warm in use it means they have a significant resistance - you're wasting energy in the form of heat. Clean any poor connections and fit thicker wires to cure.

theres no problem with the bike as it is , its perfect for what we bought it for , just he's nearly 17 now and wants a bit more umph without having to go down the route of registering it, taxing it and having to do his CBT.

I have a powabyke, its not restricted, "for off road use only" and can do about 25 MPH.
Buggered if I know how or why. Its got a 36v battery and a 250w motah. I do know the crank sensor is buggered though and you need to pedal it up to about 10mph before the motor will kick in. Plus it doesnt last long - about 12 miles is its lot at full tilt.

Well my bike is Titanium, weighs nothing and even at my age I could probably ride it further and faster than a kid on one of those things. Pointless, If he wants a bike get the CBT done for safety if nowt else. Then get a proper bike with an engine 8)
