I was thinking that but the GTI isnt up to being used until its had its various problems sorted. The best bet would be if we could get the green TZD sorted (no major problems) and through its MOT, then if you tax it stu I'm happy to loan it to you. Other issue would be you getting up here to collect it - of course you're welcome to stay over (there's a possible night out) at mine when you come to collect?

The white GTI has too much going wrong with it at the moment for me to trust it to get me to the missus house and back at the moment, let alone expect it to get you all the way home.

Timescale - that'd all depend on Vanny getting over to show me what needs fixing and fix it (insulted by me ofcourse). I really don't think its more than an afternoons work.

Stu's not going to Stratford though mate!

In all seriousness, the ZX (whilst is bland and green and not all that rapid and well it's a ZX) is actually not a bad car, and cheap to run.

Actually, Smiffy, that would do just fine. Thing is how/when to collect it... Hm.

I'll be in Oxford next Monday which is, I believe, not TOO far from you. Does that sound do-able?
Cheers,
Stu

I'll be getting into Oxford around midday, coming off a weekend canal trip. If you're up for that, Doc, I could find out if the boat company has a car park - you could leave it there in the morning, give them the keys, and I'll send smiffy the money by paypal or bank transfer? Do I hear the sound of a plan coming together?
Cheers,
Stu

Any news on this?

Sorry to be a pain but I need to finalise my travel plans to Oxford! What I do will depend on whether I have a car to drive back or not!

Stu

Found anything yet Stu? Sure something round here will turn up before long mate.
Bloke at work (who's also the landlord of the yard I keep my truck at) has a 190E Merc which is a diesel!. 11 months's test and rent until end of October I think. Wants circa £450 for it I believe, can find out more details if wanted?

John didn't mention it in work, but then he's useless!
I'll give the useless turd a bell and let you know mate.

It will need a O/S driveshaft at some point, other than that it's ok underneath.
I had it on a pit in work this week, 12 tonne air jacks! I'm so getting me some of them fuckers!

I cant see any reason why I cant get his valver through a ticket rapid enough, so I cant envisage a problem with the ZX.

Fantastic John, you're on!

Now we just need to figure out how to get it to me, or me to it. I'm heading for Oxford tomorrow morning, spending the weekend on (or falling off) narrowboats, getting drunk and dancing, and will be back in Oxford to return the boats to the yard on Monday about midday.

I'll be offline from 1700 today so I'll PM you my mobile number.

Billy the Merc sounds nice... but the ZX is very cheap and closer physically to where I'll be! Thanks though.
Cheers,
Stu

Series one 190 1988 'E' reg. 10 months MOT, about a month at least of tax. 191,000 miles (I think) but being a Merc diesel you'll get 500,000 out of it no bother with basic servicing. Metalli green, front wings a bit tatty but new ones are like £30 each.
I think the fella has owned it for a while now and he's not a boy racer type either. In fact he's a very nice bloke.
I'll try and grab some pictures of it (didn't get a chance this weekend) and post 'em up as it'll end up on the bay anyhow.
In my opinion it's bloody good value for money for a cheap, reliable, well built economical car and I reckon in a years time it'll still be worth the same if not more.
Pm me or something Vanny if your mate's interested and I'll get the owner's phone number for you.
