Well, computer equipment isn't particularly keen on getting knocked :-(

As stated above, it's the BSI that controls those items, best bet would be to get it on a Lexia and see what fault codes are stored. Hopefully it's not the BSI unit itself that's croaked, as I believe they are rather dear.

I think our lerned friend means BCM, Body Control Module, ie all the ancillaries run through it.

The BCM and most if not all components will happily take a good shunt, shake, smack with a hammer, so i doubt failure is simply down to physical treatment. Otherwise every crash would result in one hell of a heft bill. However they are tempremental about having components changed, ie if an electronic module connected tot eh BCM was replaced (eg the horn) then it might not like the new component. I suspect you need to clear any diagnostic errors in the BCM and hard reset the software, might be as simple as disconnecting a battery, but i suspect you need to send a diagnostic PID through the OBD connector to do a full factory setting restore. IE you need a diagnostics session with someone in the know! THat doesn't needs be mean a Lexia but it might help!

Lexia is the name of the citroen computer which can connect to the computer!

:-)

Sorry, BSI stands for built in systems interface, and is the computer trickery that works all the systems that you are having difficulty with. Lexia is a combination of a wired interface and software that permits you to use a laptop to interrogate the cars computer for fault codes and suchlike. I can't say I know much more than this like...

So the consensus is that I schlepp it round to Rigbye's and let them play.
I think they charge about £ 30 to do the business. Whether that's just to tell you what's wrong, or includes fixing it I don't know. £30 to tell me what I already know seems a bit steep to me. On the other hand £30 to fix it seems cheap :? :?

yeah, but Phil gets on with Rigsby's...

I guess really you'd have to start with having it read, if that doesn't give a difinitive answer it should give some clues as to WTF is happening..

Sound advice though, even changing mirrors and shit needs a sesh on the computer to tell it the car has a new mirror..

Thanks guys. Yeah Rigbye's are ace. excellent body shop

Good technicians..... Citroen only, have all the latest gear and I've known all 4 brothers for about 30 years.
I will have to go up there next week anyway. Dereks Picasso has been losing water, they tested it for him yesterday and it needs a new head gasket.
He's on hols in a couple of weeks. so we may as well do both services and his head job.
He has about 100,000+ on now so we can fit a new cam belt too.
It will cost about £200 for all the bitz needed. Rigbye's quoted £900 to do it, the other Cit dealer in Wigan quoted £1100

Blimey! £900.... I really am in the wrong job.. although that may not be an issue after next week!

Although I guess they are a franchised place? In which case, I guess not too bad..

If i was bringing in £5000 an hour then i would buy all the gear and so i would become an overnight expert. Or not. My experience is that main dealers are very very limited in what they can do, regardless of the kit they have. Not to mention Rigby's are known for the body work skills and not for there diagnostic and repair skills. If Rigbys have had it once and didnt fix the problem, what chance is there of permanantly fixing it a second time?

I'd consider looking for chaffed wires and the like around the area of damage.

:? :? Either your not reading what I'm writing or I aint writing what I think I am.

The reference to the body shop was incidental. A bit of self deprecation on my part, vis a vis
my accident.
They have excellent diagnostic technicians who have not yet had the pleasure of trying to discover the root of my issues.
The test yesterday was on Derek's Picasso, at which they confirmed my diagnosis of a slightly blown Head Gasket.(it loses about a litre/50 miles)
They are not just a main dealer, they are a family firm who have been around since 1930.
They only do Cits and host CCC tech weekends from time to time. [bow]
