More to do with knowing loop holes in the law.. It pays to be learned it does!
A document isn't worth a wank in a court of law without a signature...
How often does the prosecution ever check for signature's??
NEVER!
I've been caught speeding 5 times now (twice ina bus, once in a bus doing 82mph in a 30 zone ) and I have a totally clean licence..

All sorted, the very kind Smiffy and Doc brought the ZX straight to the boatyard and all was sorted!
It got me 140 miles home with no problems and I must admit I actually rather like it. It's comfy for a sprung car, not as slow as a 1.4 shopping trolley could be, and it all works, more or less. First gear graunches nicely but apart from that it all seems to hang together pretty well.
Good car for private detectives too. I suspect I'm going to spend a lot of time hunting for it in car parks.
I spotted Doc's BX straight away, as I was walking down the road towards them, then I saw Smiffy and Doc sitting behind it. I got all the way up to them and had said hello and shaken hands before I even noticed the ZX sitting right next to me...
An afternoon polishing (and vacuuming, ya dirty bugger) and I think I'll get more than the £150 I spent back on ebay when the time comes to replace it with a proper car.
Thanks again Doc and Smiffy, fantastic stuff!

Oh ah, forgot about the first gear crunch. Suspect some fresh oil would attend to that.
My car's easy to spot, it's the only pink BX in the village!!

I reckon the crunchy gears, were caused by that stepper motor.
The engine sometimes idles too fast, and so if you are quick with your gear change, it doesn't allow the synchro to work properly.
Just allow a little more time between pressing the clutch, and selecting the gear. Quite a well equipped car for the second from bottom of the range...

It only crunches if you go into first when you're not at a complete standstill - so I assumed the synchro had gone. It's not the end of the world, just means a bit of patience at junctions.
It's weird how similar it is to my girlfriend's Xsara from the driver's seat. Is the Xsara just a cosmetic overhaul of the ZX? It's identical to drive. Even the controls are all in the same place. Hers even has that identical rev-float thing!

I am putting a bit of weight back on Vanny, mainly cos my balls need emptying!
I'm sure the gearbox will be fine with some fresh oil.
The stepper motors were world renouned for being shite. A good clean with some carby cleaner and a deft whack with a hammer usually sorts them out, or kills them completley!
Yes mate, the Xsara replaced the ZX, and is, to all intents and purposes a ZX in a shell suit.
The wheel trims did it for me with that car!

Those wheeltrims are fucking beautiful. I haven't had the chance to take any photos yet but I'm looking forward to Tim's reaction when I post them on BXC
I washed and vacuumed it last night so it actually looks quite respectable now. Yahoo Autos (aka Total Fantasy World) reckons it's worth £1,100 so I'm looking forward to selling it...

You mean you've removed all the evidence of it's time at the farm!
I reckon that's wiped about £300 off it's value!
Whilst it aint my cuppa tea, I guess since it's in the cheap insurance / tax bracket it'll always be worth a bit to someone??
Although those wheeltrims obviousley add eleventbillion pounds to it's value!

Aye, you should have demanded it was polished aswell, Smiffy would be bankrupt by now, he'd have to have given you £54,000 to take it away!1stu wrote:So if John had washed it, he'd have had to give me £150 to take it away? Shit! I missed out there!
I do in the TD if it's a slight incline and the cars doing about 7mph or less, the diff's a bit tall to pull second without slipping the clutch, which is why it needs a new one after 10k miles!!David wrote:Although.... when do you (anyone?) use 1st gear from anything but stationary?
But yeah, other than that...
The valver will happily pull away from stand still in second..
