Arse nuggets...

Post by jayw » 10 Dec 2010

Having in the last week replaced the rear arm bearings, brake pads, droplinks, front discs & pads and one of the balljoints the second balljoint decided to shear completely around the lugs leaving it fimly stuck in the hub-carrier...

I've got the carrier off the car and on the bench, anyone ever experienced balljoint removal under these circs...?

Obviously, i'm likely to go for heat, moles & parrots, but anyone got any brighter ideas?

Actually, chris and I dd experience something like this on my current car. the balljoint was so badly stuck in there, it wrecked the thread as we were unscrewing it. So badly infact, that we had to find annother hub carrier... we "MAY" be able to find one when we shift all our old tat into the new shed this weekend!

Usual method here is weld a big fuck off nut on the remains and undo.
But yeah, I think we have a couple of hub carriers left, although finding one witha decent wheel bearing could be interesting..

Well fuck me sideways with a rusty gatepost, tha bastard's out!

LOADS of heat (cringing in hope that the BJ doesn't pop), the complete hub carrier staked into the garden with a 3' bar through the centre and a spare hub-nut welded to the remains of the BJ and after 10 minutes hanging of a 5' scaffolding-extended breaker bar the fucker went!

Thought it had threaded completely actually but after teasing it out it's perfect. Also clear that they're the original BJ's.

I hate cars.
