Trolley Jack as Hydraulic Press...?
About a year ago, i replaced the bottom engine mount (the one that's pressed into the housing that the drive shaft passes thro')
I pushed it in using my vice and a 2.5ft scaffold pole The vise suffered a bit and I think if I do it again, it'l spit it's dummy out...
So, I thought if I made summut up to fit my trolley jack, it could be used as a hydraulic press....question is....what forces did I achieve between the jaws of my vice and would a 1.5 tonne trolley jack be enough to push in that big lower engine mount....?

I `ll give Doc a sketch on Saturday, of how to make one up
using the welder. Mine`s big enuff to take my 4ton trolley, so I`ll downsize it a bit.
You will need two pieces of 50mm MS square bar, long enuff to just clear the width of your jack, Not just the bit that goes up and down.
The rest of it is made from 40x10 BSB except for the sliders which are
15x6 BSB

Bastard Beer...! You blasphemous squire you
Ok Phil, thanks. I was trying to think of what tonnage a vice would give with meself on the end of a 2 ft scaffold pole...It was enought to push the bush in ok but it buggered me vice a bit. If i do it again then the vice will be fubar...so then I got to thinking of using the trolley jack (1.5 tonne) which may not be enough to.......er..........'push the bush'
