The conspiracy theory is pretty well dead now apart from Al-Fayed still trying to fan the dying embers!

its amazing what you can do when you change the mind of key witnesses!

But seriously, i didn't know a BX was involved, what is the bet the whole thing was caused by an LHM leak?

Or maybe the BX driver was having problems with his FDV but didn't want to let on...

I thought there was a mysterious Fiat Uno involved - Alexei Sayle spun a short story around that angle.

Well he was wasn't he. Fucked off fighting Arabs at every opportunity (didn't like all the rain) just to get a sun tan. Then some geezer grabbed him on his way back and put him up to ransome.

We should have told them to fucking keep him and declared a republic. 8) 8) 8) 8)

Too true & probably wouldn't have the celebrity status in history were it not for the Robin Hood fiction where he was revered by them and consequently most people who read the books. :)

After the war there were a couple of boys papers (not comics) that covered things like the trojan wars.
They also carried other serious stuff like Lionhearts Battles with Saladin and the formation of the knights Templar and Hospitaller. I know it sounds dull stuff now but it was better than nothing
Newsprint was just about the only bleeding thing that wasn't rationed.

Anyway what I mean is, he was famous before stories like Robin Hood became widely advertised by films with the likes of Errol Flynn in the late 40's and series's with Richard Green almost a decade later and err ever since I suppose. Prince and King John (after Richard died) got all the bad press but did all sorts of good deeds (like signing Magna Carta). He did make some mistakes however. like chartering Liverpool as a market and royal port.
He also built lots of castles to keep those rowdy welshmen under control. :)

That can't be classed as one of his good deeds surely :? , more a good result with a metaphorical gun to his head. :)

Yes there's clearly more stories of Richard/Saladin/crusades over the years and with a greater church going public in this country over those past years they mainly would think him great for being a champion of Chritianity. Questioning the sense and morality of war has been a recent innovation.
