POW's in POW camps weren't put to death apart from a few notorious incidents like the one in "The Great Escape" which was based on a true incident.

The sadistic Japanese just worked the guys to death as a rule.

Do we know whether we Brits were naughty over treatment "of the enemy" in our camps from what has been published? :?

my dad befriended some italian pow's while guarding them in palestine ,
they all said how well they were treated,
they made some lovely trinkets , bracelets , cigarette cases etc , in fact I still have some of them

The Itie's are certainly lovers not fighters, that's for sure.

You should see the chappel they built and decorated, in the shetlands.

A huge % age of them stayed in Scotland after the war.

Apparently there is quite a bit of Germanic art inside the huts but the 9 mill asking price is a bit of a joke.

The Japs weren't sadistic in the least. By 1939 most of Japan was still what we would consider almost medieval. Their concepts and ideology were from that period.
Captured "warriors" and civilians, were treated as they would have expected to be treated by us. A totally different mindset. The "Kami Kazi" were another example of this. Hirohito, the Emperor they were fighting for was even revered as a god !!!!
I got all this from Mr Higaona, one of our grand masters, who was over on a visit some years ago.

I only caught the back end of the story Vanny, so may have misunderstood. They stuck a sheet of paper on screen that I thought was asking for 9 mill, but it's overpriced at 900 g's anyway.
