Killed the Corsa...

Post by jayw » 10 May 2010

Had fun & games at the weekend with Vauxhole...

Rang them up & told them that when i got home from work the rear brakes were smoking and the handbrake didn't work no more on the Corsa. So, the AA takes it away, I gets a hire car from enterprise at 10:30pm on Friday and all is ok-ish with the world...

Saturday i gets a phone call from a woman at the dealer: "we suspect it's been driven with the handbrake on, the drums are warped, ABS sensors melted, the shoes are worn out and the bearings are fucked".

That's very nice i reply, what do you think i am, fucking stupid? Even if i were mentally retarded enough to actually drive the 30 miles home with the handbrake on i'm pretty damn sure that annoying bong bong bong bong of the warning alarm would give the game away....!!!

The cunt would have to be fully locked on to do that much damage in 30 miles... more likely they've been binding slightly for ages!

So, i hits the internet and find loads of complaints of dodgy Corsa D brakes, from them sticking on, to failing completely.

Now going to slap some 17 year old "technician"...

of course they know this, but they'll still "try it on"
... all landings are in fact controlled crashes, and any crash you can walk away from is a good landing. The definition of a good pilot is a man with the same number of landings as take-offs.

I imagine they do know. But, it's still under warranty and i don't think they want to cover the (i'd estimate) £1k bill to repair it...

New discs and drums £60. New pads and shoes £42. 4 abs sensors £72. 4 new wheel bearings £ 88.
So witgh a days labour you would be looking at about £600 total. :) 8)

But ...I mean, would you spend £ 600 on a Corsa (even a new one) [no] [no] [no]

So you can't blame them really   [coat]

I might be out of touch here but I'd wager the days labour alone would £600 + VAT!!!!!!!!!!

edit: At the genuine Vauxhall workshop prices that is

 Oh shit!!! you mean....well err I didn't say that
Yes Bandit. apart from BM Jag and Merc who charge upwards of £90 /hr
Fraud recently upped theirs so we may see a change, though to be honest I don't think so.

We have a huge number of small garages of good quality, especially the one man bands who only charge£ 35 / hr. So, there is lots of competition. 8)
