A full on tiddler here at 19", An LCD jobbie but in my defence yer honour I've wanted just one screen in the room for many years (since ZX Spectrum ownership) and LCD tele's can be used as computer moniters so we do

The logic is somewhat flawed as its only ever used with the computer as we don't have a TV licence and it wouldn't make friends with the VCR. But on the plus side if the computer breaks we can plug a DVD into it, not sure that makes up for all the grief we got from tv licencing when Argos told them we'd bought it  SWMBO now reminds me that the tele was cheaper than a moniter the same size.

Doc, I don't need those hubcaps yet but would be happy to give them a home in the corner of my loft that is turning into a small treasure trove of BX bits. It would be nice to have the piece of mind that a spare provides and if anybody else desperatly requires one then it would of course be available. Would it be ok to pick them up at Stratford?

There was some discrepancy over TV licience and being able to watch TV on the interweb [chin] I think so long as it's not a live or real time transmission i.e. A download then you're ok but check ffs!

That's why i have a 32" PC in the lounge... perfect for iPlayer and youtube.
catsinthewelder wrote: loft that is turning into a small treasure trove of BX
Yeah, go easy on that, when i had to clear the loft out when i left the Ex i was surprised to pull out 2 complete interiors, dashboards, a door, bumpers and a whole host of other crap... it's amazing how it all adds up
With the exception of the interior the Doc had it's taking up space in the garage now (or given away or dumped).

That's what happens when the council give you a 3' by 2' loft-hatch... can barely squeeze my arse through the one in this house
Almost BX-less

when I was a tv licence inspector you could get done for watching a video of a tv programme like from a boxed set of csi etc, my understanding is that you can be nicked for watching any tv program without a licence whatever the source or media you are watching it on

:( Quite correct Mickey, as the licence is to RECEIVE a TV service. No medium is designated.

And it's no good saying you don't watch the BBC either [coat]
72... AND STILL ROCKIN..........around the world...... NOT in a chair yet

Its been in the news a few times lately that they are considering changing the law so that you would need a licence to use the i-player/4od etc. But its currently legal as long as you don't watch any live feeds. I'll probably start paying again if the do change the law as the i-player would be worth paying for, we stopped when I started my perminent twilight shift a few years ago as we missed all the good programmes and ended up watching bollocks on daytime tv. I wondered about paying voluntarily on moral grounds but if paying the licence fee was voluntary how many people would cough up?

Believe me I've checked, even to the point of asking TV licencing about it.

I learnt with my first mopeds that any laws that you may break were worth knowing about, such is the way of the world

I love CSI!
I also have a licence, but, if I didn't and was watching a DVD box set then as far as I'm concerned I've bought I've the licence to watch it by paying for the DVD..?

It is an illegal monopoly administrated by typically bent bastards (in Liverpool at least) which should quite frankly be scrapped. Don't get me wrong, its not without its benefits, but it does NOT represent good value for money.

You know my bigest complaint is not paying the licence fee as such (which i do these days) but the fact that i choose to source my television services through Virgin media and before that sky. i pay them, they are my tv provider, why should i really have to pay again just to get the BBC stuff?
If you see what im saying.
OK, so i've got some stuff, some of it goes, some of it doesnt, some of it never will again!

Totally mate. If we have sky / Virgin then we should be able to say "I dont want BBC" and not pay for them..
