It will be mine...
Every now and again when the paperboys don't turn up at Clares shop I go out in the car delivering them...
So, this morning there was a new customer i'd never been to before, tucked away down a dead-end...
I rounds the driveway and am greeted by a lurvley grey '91 TZD... It's really tidy, out of tax and looks to be being used as storage for their plastic recycling.
Never EVER seen it about before and as they're all pensioners down that way I suspect it's going to be a low-miler owned by an old chap who's had to give up driving (as there was no other car on the drive) who'd love to see it go to a caring enthusiasts home...
Alas, i felt 6am was a little early to be knocking on their door
Off back there later with a plan!...

Re: It will be mine...
Had a bit of a result really. And it's twofold...
Firstly, after a half hour chat with the the old chap (who's now housebound), he's had the car since it was 3 years old, is only the 2nd owner and it has a genuine 60k on it
He's not selling it right now but knows he's going to have to soon as he's looking for a suitable nursing home to move into and I have 1st refusal on it
Apart from a scraped bumper and a few carpark dings it'a nice car! Back seats never been sat in and no visible rust.
So comes the secondfold... Our tenancy is up in october and we decided to look for a self contained granny-annex similar to the one we used to live in. Our old one was the same size as the house we currently rent but cost half the amount (no council tax, cheaper rent etc.) and it just so happens that this old chaps granny-annex will be coming up cheap when he relocates
So, not only do i get his motor eventually, but we've likely as not found our new house too. Not bad for a days work!
It helps that he's a bit partial to Clare... not that taking her with me would be exploiting that in any way...

Excellent! And the old dude is probably chuffed that the car is going to an enthusiast rather than scrap. Everyone's a winner!

I bet Tim is quite annoyed that as head of BXdom over there on CCC that 'he' didn't spot it and get it. He could of ripped off the old codjer and made a tidy profit for doing fuck all except getting your work 'mates' to polish it to death and stick £500 on the value. Concours my arse.

Re: It will be mine...
/\ Oh I see, no, the lippy I thought was last year..........erm my darling, but doing a Tim is a technical term, a verb, mostly pertaining to the automotive sector but could well be equally applied to any area of life where a transaction has occurred (in this case the minimal exchange of cash for an item e.g. a BX), but with the sole intention of fucking the vendor up the arse by paying feck all and then making the vheicle appear better than it was and indeed still is by applying lavish amounts of polish (or similar; the aim being to maximise the perceived external appearance of the vehicle, whilst doing fuck all about what's under the polish; mutton dressed as lamb shall we say).
A double Tim or Tim-Tim can be scored (or indeed Triple Tims and multiples thereof) by luring innocent and generous people into donating increasingly rare parts from their own reserve (such is the generous spirit of most members that parts are mostly given away for free or at 'beer' cost) only to see their parts fitted to the resultant would be concours vehicle and sold with good profit (without seeing a return on their donation of parts).
A sub-clause often missed by the casual donator is that 'beer' cost actually results in no payment at all, for Beer is the exchange between menfor goods and/or services. Goods and services aside (or quality thereof) two things remain absent from the equation. Beer is one.....
