Owing the taxman...

Post by jayw » 05 Sep 2010

After running a DVLA check for someone else earlier, I decided to look at some of my old motors to see whether they're dead or alive.

My old MK2 escort 1300:
The vehicle details for CGS 814T are:

The identical Red one that replaced it...
The vehicle details for FRU 615V are:

The first car i ever "owned", a very rusty orange Datsun 180B, given to me by a neighbour when i was 12 to tinker with in his garden...
The vehicle details for JOO 328N are:

So, I owe the taxman 22 years back tax...

Anyone got a raise on that?

In total, that's 55 years backtax between 3 cars... trying to dig out some other reg. numbers

I thought you were going on about the news that the "PAYE" vomputer has fcucked up tax for 1.4 million people who the Govt say owe them £1400.

Me, call me mr Cynical Bastard, but I think its a Govt means of getting some money in the coffers.
Tell the country the old Govt cocked up and fcucked up the income tax and rake in some more cash.

Cnuts.

I can't remember what the figures were, but IIRC they owe more back to the public than is due to the coffers... The sensible thing would have been to keep their gobs shut...

This lot have been fucking up for years as I've writ here before ad nauseum.
The rider on the back of the announcement, stated they were looking to go back further and lots more people could owe money.
I was told officially that they cannot go back beyond 2006 as everything before that was accidentally wiped when their "new" system was installed.
I reckon they owe me 1500, they paid me back 209 but I've been waiting for for this to be resolved for 8 years, so at least it's going in the right direction.

I thought it was in the "rules" that they can only go back 7 years anyway so that will shortly give a maximum of 2004.

Presumably your 8 years is still an open case Phil? If their payment of £209 closed the case as far as they were concerned you'd be more succesful trying to get snowballs out of Hell!

:x I won't bore you with too many details, but,This has been an ongoing cock up since 2002.
I finally started to get somewhere after I made an official complaint in 2007. This was being dealt with from Cardiff by some woman named Williams. At suitable intervals of about 6 months she kept apologising for the delay, as she was waiting for reports.
In February this year I got a new tax code and I rather facetiously asked how they had set my new code when I was still awaiting resolution of my case. Surprisingly my answer came in the form of a cheque for £209, to which I responded with, well where is the other £1200+
you owe me, because they had reduced the amount by that much saying it was from earlier years, which was the amount that they fucking already agreed was a cock up 5 years ago. And I'm still waiting for a response from mrs Williams.
It went quiet for a month, then I get this guy writing to me from Edinburgh, saying how sorry they were that my case had gone on so long and it was unacceptable that they had sent the cheque without any corroboration or proper explanation, but he's going to sort it all out and will supply a resolution by the 16th of August.
You will know of course that the 16th came and went without any response, so a week later I rang the number he gave me and that's when he told me how overloaded they are and the computer issue and how sorry he was he hadn't managed to get round to me, but he had been in touch with Mrs Williams, who will send him all the stuff she has.....as soon as she comes back from holiday or sick leave or whatever. Fucking useless wankers
Watch this space.
