hmmm, dont know, there's a few BXCer's that live down that way with white BX's that I'm aware of.
Does rather beg the question though, why didn't they get the fuck out of it if it was on fire?
Seems a bit odd that.
Waste of a good source of spare parts too.

It says there were 2 vehicles involved. If the BX was going very slowly or was stopped on the hard shoulder, it's quite possible the other one hit it.
Dek used to work on recovery and he says it is a very common occurrence

It doesn't say two vehicles were involved, but implies an incident occurred. All very odd..
Maybe the driver had a heart attack or some shit, then the car got welted and caught fire?

I know that Daisy (Anne Marie) was off on holiday somewhere...and she drives a white BX. :(
I've sent her a text so hopefully I will get a reply.

It's not her...

I guess the names will be released in due course.

More likely to be a petrol given the fire, so that probably narrows down the field a bit. Still very puzzling, though (assuming the reports are halfway acccurate).

Don't know if it's related but after seeing my car in the car park at work earlier one of the installers said "I saw one of them the other day bouncing down the motorway", after a quick convo it turned out to also be the M5 but he couldn't remember what day it was.

He said it was bouncing about all over the place (dead hydraulics i assume) and was being driven by an old chap. Apparently the police had passed by in the fast lane at speed and noticed it and pulled back in to stop the BX. He said he only noted it because of the bouncing.

Could be coincidence but freaky nonetheless...

surely too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence?

Updated (sort of):

Two people killed in motorway car blaze
wdnews@bepp.co.uk

Two people died after their car was engulfed in flames on the M5 in Somerset.

Emergency crews received numerous calls from people travelling southbound near Junction 23 after a Citroen BX was believed to have clipped another vehicle and caught fire.

The accident happened shortly after 7.30pm on Friday and fire appliances from Bridgwater and Taunton attended.

They worked to rescue the man and woman inside the vehicle, which ended up on the hard shoulder.

An Avon and Somerset police spokeswoman said it is believed the Citroen was either stationary or travelling very slowly before the incident.

But she said it is unclear exactly what happened and urged any witnesses to come forward and help them with their enquiries.

She said: "Officers are investigating the possibility that the Citroen was in collision with another vehicle which was not on the scene when police arrived.

"It is believed another car may have tried to get out of the way of the Citroen, but this is unclear as yet.

"We would appreciate help from any members of the public who saw what happened or indeed if there was a collision, we would like to hear from the people travelling in the other vehicle."

The accident happened at 7.38pm on Friday and the M5 was closed for seven hours.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We sent two fire appliances from Bridgwater and an appliance and a rescue tender from Taunton.

"The crews were there from approximately 7.48pm and the last left the scene at 2.15am."

The identities of the two victims have not been confirmed but officers believe they were not from the West Country.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 0845 456 7000.
