Aussie Frogs demise?

Post by smiffy » 23 Oct 2010

I was saddened to learn this week that the server on which the Aussie Frogs website is hosted, has had a serious crash, and at this stage it's not known how much of the data can be saved.
the webmaster gibgib, is virtually certain that most of it has been lost, as the backups somehow got deleted when they tried to re-boot it.
I really feel for the bloke, as he's made himself physically ill with worry trying to sort it out.

I gather it was an american host called "godaddy," that is the root of all the problems, who according to their advertising blurb "pride themselves on customer service" but have actually turned out to be total cunts!
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away...
but now that most of them are muslim, I find bacon and sausages work better!

That really surprises me Ted, as it was the home territory of Alan Smith who was close to JonKW and BXC. Perhaps "Visit" didn't include "Visited"? :?

Undoubtedly it is shame and of significance that there is the loss of much irreplaceable info, tips & tricks from knowledgeable posters like Alan. :( Hopefully they at least have an outdated or partial backup of the database saved off-line.

A couple of years ago my daily routine (between seeing patients) included BXC, FCF, Autoshite, AussieFrogs, 2CVGB and the CCC websites.

These days its get in from work, spend a few minutes dicking on Facebook, a few minutes on Autoshite, a quick catch up on here, a quick see how my stuff is selling on eBay and then thats it. FCF, BXC and others never get a look in these days.
Oddly I dont miss them.

But they miss you... there is a distinct lack of humour on BXC these days

Old age?

'These days' is usually a phrase coined to refer to recent times, i.e. not the days when the world was in black and white. The opposite of 'back in my day'...

I think BXP has taken the mantle of humour as BXC disappeared up it's own lofty perch based arse really.

I still enjoy both forums, just in different ways. But I do agree some of the more humorous characters seem to spend more time over here than over there.

I seem to be spending less and less time on the interweb and have taken up some interesting hobbies, I am putting my photos into albums, wanking and generally keeping the house clean and tidy.
Next week I plan to smoke an interesting chocolate shag.

Humour is actively discouraged by the vociferous self-appointed guardians of the site! (I don't mean the moderators  )

I can't really say there's anyone I actively dislike over there - I just wish there was a bit less seriousness.

Didn't there used to be a cartoon spider who played guitar and sang folk songs?

Your not thinking of the baseball playing spider are you? Boothby Grafoe, excellent song, not as good as Hartlepool though!
