The cost of BX ownership

Well, since i bought Jazz i've been collecting receipts for all the parts etc that have gone in. Yesterday (in an attempt to bore myself to death so that i slept) i decided to digitize the lot of the receipts and see what the total score is, and i'm gutted,

£2,825.90

Now that doesn't include Ebay tat, original car cost, nor insurance, nor MOT's, but i would have expected it to be at least double that.

So now you know, totalling up the receipts is not as scary as it might seem!

blimey, you need to spend more!
The bus thus far, not including fuel, weighs in at £9,670

The Red carm christ, I dont know actually, but at least £9K not including mot's, fuel, tax yadda yadda

The black shed is over £10K and probably a good deal more

The green one, erm, considerably more than that!

:) Well K39 cost me £2900 to buy @ 3 years old in 1996. Regular servicing and a couple of cam belts add around £500. 2 sets of spheres £180. If you add in 2 rear cylinders and various lengths of pipework a rear brg set, a couple of btm joints and a number of returns, a clutch cable and a few bulbs + odds and ends I don't recall, you could probably scrape another £250
Added together and divided by 14 makes less than £250 per year :D
If you remove the initial buy it works out less than £70 a year.
That to me anyway is cheeeeeeeep! 8)

Other than the normal tat, My old Meteor only needed rear arm bearings, h/b cables, a coolant hose ('ow much?) and an exhaust in six years of jolly motoring.

It does make me wonder what I've spent on mine - I've got all the receipts apart from a few eBay purchases. Some of the stuff I've fitted has been for improvements rather than maintenance, plus I've fitted some things after mis-diagnosing a problem, again not strictly necessary. Curious but not sure I'll ever get round to adding it all up!
