but for learning, followed by making up the odd boss or adapter, it might be ideal?

Well I've blown it right up and it's been well used. I know the name and they are not bad.
However although there is quite a bit of stuff in the box, including a running centre, it is only a modelers lathe and you will be struggling with anything bigger than 35 dia or 125 long. (mm)
The swing looks only to be about 2".

nah, ust a vicious rumour!

I guess it would be a good little tool to learn on, but for that kinda money I'd rather spend proper money and get a man size lathe that you can learn on, and will then be of use for all manner of things really.

You need something about the size of my Myford super 7 only a bit newer with a lead screw and that. 3" chuck and a 4" swing and a bed getting on for 750 mm. Finally a tool post that will take standard 12 mm sq tools or 1/2" will do.

Hows that for mixed dimensions
