I certainly am mate. Nice uneventful journey for once. Caught the 8-04 from kalmar to Alvesta. 15 minute wait for the X2000, (posh train coming from Stockholm) arriving at Kastrup (Köpenhamn airport) 11-30.
Plane was 40 mins late, 10 past 3, but was down in Manchester at just after 4 and home by 10 past 5, so good result all round really.
Can't believe the snow we had. It's the worst they have had for over 10 years.
Will eventually get some pics up on here (new years resolution) [chin] [chin]

Cheers bandit, that makes some sence. It would explain why the bolt was snapped. Unfortunately while i was told i had to remove the AC setup myself, i arrived to find most of the AC system removed from the donor valver and i still have parts i'm not strictly sure where they belong! It would also explain why the bolt is snapped if it is left handed!

Hmmm, i've never undone the M8 side, so the idler and bolt/stud and nut are all still firmly attached!

It was for the very reason you state Vanny, that I insisted my team strip out any 2nd hand stuff we got from other companies.
We got 3 boxes of electronics once. nothing to do with the machine we bought, but we lost 3 days finding that out. :roll:

You jammy bastard Vanny, I found the bolt this very evening - I thought it would of been a needle in a haystack job.

Oooh, that looks awfully familiar to the idler on the "lollipop" style tensioner on later XU's..

EDIT: come to think of it, are you sure thats actually off the BX?
I've never seen a BX with AC with that style roller.

YES it's off the BX but it is ONLY fitted to the 16v with factory fit AC.

The idler its self is like £114 from Citroen so i suspect many people do away with it for something less expensive. But me, i want it right!

Ooooh yeah, that be different awl right. That's an eccentric tensioner style no? They have similar (don't know about size, but identical 'sort' of thing) tensioner on the 2.1 XUD aux belt. Could be a cheaper option? The bolt looks good to make on a lathe....

The start of the new bolt. Which i'd taken the old one mind, this'n is about 10mm too short on the thin end. There is the slightest amount of play from bolt to thread, but i'm confident it will be okay!

Now, the nut in the middle, i think i'm best to use the old bolt, cut the nut off, dril it, tap it, screw it on and spot it in place, and dress it. Sound like a plan?

Also, alternator is in the post, whoop!!

Would a standard nut do instead? To save drilling tapping?

well it needs to be pretty close to the engine block, it acts as a spacer, and i think if i don't have the right space the belt wont be supported correctly and eventually it will fail prematurely.

You can get 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4 nuts from engineers suppliers. All nuts are made to a formula, the depth is proportionate to the diameter with a cham on one side.
Locknuts come with a chamfer on both sides and in the proportions given above as well as full size. Measure your spacer then get the size above and grind/ file it to the thickness you want. :wink:

Well by the previous 2 posts I assumed it was either missing or fubar.

While I'm on. I have just downloaded all my christmas pics from my phone. That Pixum site is shite and I was wondering where the best place to stick all my photo's is?
Any recommendations? And please, somewhere where there are no issues with transporting them onto here and elsewhere :lol:

Forking buggery, alternator has arrived, £35 delivered, but its not right. The eBay advert lists is as a 70Amp LRA00471 reman. Its reman and LRA00471 alright, but its a fucking bastarding buggering 50amp alternator, according to both the interwebs and Lucas websites.

The clue may have been in the price. I got a delco one for my BX about 8 years back. £78 then but it purports to be 90AH.
