Presenting the Dongfeng-Citroen Elysee

Post by stu » 03 Jan 2011

I came across this while googling for information on the Xsara.

At first I was quite interested - an export-only model with quite an attractive face, in the first picture. Then I scrolled down a bit...
Cheers,
Stu

So its a chinese ZX like they have been building for years, but with a C4 or whatever face stitched on and fuck knows what going on at the back.

Hmmmm, pass. Do they seriously buy these in china?(or whatever country it is)
OK, so i've got some stuff, some of it goes, some of it doesnt, some of it never will again!

I actually think that considering they're gonna be cheap as chips, using proven running gear and with a mass of spares available over here they'll be quite doable on the import market in a couple of years...

I heard talk on a forum somewhere of them arriving in the UK secondhand for £2.5k... with all the paperwork completed you could have one on the road for under £3.5k, for a car less than a year old!

On that basis, i'd have one... think of the individuality
Almost BX-less

I like em
I liked the ZX ( I had a few). The arse end of that looks a bit garish, but no worse than the arse end of the wifes Zafira I suppose.
Would I have one?
Yes.

I had a ZX Aura 19D and although a bit bland I couldn`t fault it.
A tarted up ZX back end, Xsara doors and a C4 ish front end.
Good mechanicals so for 3 grand, what`s not to like?? gets my vote. :D

Gone now in favour of the C4 (almost certainly the previous C4). It must be nice to have somewhere to send any redundant tooling and carry on making money out of it, without an official receiver being involved.

You reminded me there FB. All the AX stuff and some BX tooling was sent to Borneo about
7 years ago. I was wondering if there could be a parts supply?

:D I'm in! I got this from Darren a Cit mechanic. Before he worked for me he was out in Borneo training locals up on Cit equipment.

I'll see if I can contact him for more info 8)

I know someone who's visiting Borneo very shortly - but as a retired district nurse with zero interest in cars spending part of a holiday there, she may not be the best person to ask.....

On a slightly more practical note, Borneo is a rather unusual island in that it's split into three national parts: one Malaysian part, one Indonesian part, and Brunei. So which part did they go to?

Well the North coast is full of pitates and drug barons. So I would keep well clear of that lot.

Yes, but clearly her arse is better than her face.
I has had 3 - all 1.9 N/A dizzlers with a variety of trim, though I did fuck the engine up quite royally on one by running it on used hydraflush. DONT.
