Oil Change

After having used a cheap drain can for some years now (progressed from the hole in the side of an old container) I'm sick of getting oil everywhere every time I drop the oil and it comes out faster than the moulded recess can cope with.

What I want is something like this

Image

But with mesh over it so when I drop the sump plug I can easily get it again, or rest the oil filter on for draining.

But without the expense (or size) of one of these

Any ideas guys? Needs to be at least 7 litres capacity, ideally double so I don't spill any when dragging it out.

Well I've been using the same old Duckhams 5 litre container with most of one side removed, for about 20 years now. It don't spill much and I can use the long neck to drain into the container the oil came in, ready to dispose of. :)

But the problem is they doesn't hold 7+ litres very well...at least the ones I've used.
The drain can I usually use

can't cope if the oil comes out quickly, so on the Disco I have to use a container with the side cut away to start with, then swap it mid flow for the moulded drain can. And I sometimes forget.

where I used to live I watered the garden with it direct from the sump...
These days I use an oil container, or a washing up bowl, then burn it.

I burns it too, can't beat a good fire. It's recycling innit? (Strictly re-using I suppose but better than it going down the drain).

Think I've found something that will do

At least it will make me look like I know what I'm doing!
