Go have a route around an estate rear end, that's well engineered, saloon rear end, I'm less convinced!Philhod wrote:as with everything on the BX it is really well engineered

Re: Parts and paint
Are you referring to any particular part of the estate design Vanny? I like the flat load space and the lack of a lip, but that's not unusual is it?

Re: Parts and paint
the whole rear end is better fabricated and better put together using a variety of fixings, rather than a variety of cheese!

Re: Parts and paint
I know what you mean but mine had been professionally dynatroled from new, hence there is nothing cheesy about any of it.
I also was using "well engineered" in terms of well designed rather than materials used/ put together.
Even the partition strip between the little window in the back door and the main one has a rubber strip at the top of it, perchance any water got past the window rubbers.

Re: Parts and paint
Repaired the last bit of paint on the hatch of K39 today. Bit of T cutting here and there and then a good wash and polish. I will use the upholstery cleaner on the interior too.
Then it's off to the MOT shop and to market I just can't afford to run 2 cars now.
Pensions suck!!! Will have to get a job somewhere

B&Q
Oh how I wish I was in the market for a BX, i suspect I would be sleeping in it if I bought it however
Photos would be nice though.

Re: Parts and paint
Just as I get everything finished, I back K39 out of the garage yesterday morning and a fucking crack has appeared in the windscreen.
It's about 4" long, coming up from the btm of the screen about 4" in from the side.
It hasn't been bumped or anything dropped on it, it's just appeared.
I noticed that the btm corners of the screen had gone white. Does that mean it was becoming de laminated? that could have caused it I suppose. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

It obviously loves you too much to leave you Phil and is trying to put off the evil day by giving you a little more to do before you can do the evil deed.

Re: Parts and paint
Don't start me off!!..... I'm already having second thoughts.
Unfortunately It would only end up under a cover again, used only on rare occasions, and I no longer have the resources to do that.
Unless, of course I got rid of the missis instead I would have spare cash then.

I reckon it's all that rust in the shell that's weakened it, caused it to twist and cracked the screen...

Yeah, yeah Yeah. Wait till you see the piccies.
Stuck the refurbed spoiler on, in it's new black livery.
It gives it a real presence now, with a black swaithe from side to side.
Newly painted door frames, side vents and spoiler.

My BX had a crack and white corners of windscreen when I bought it, and it failed the MOT on it and the garage said it was delamination. The Autoglass man told me the thing just disintegrated, shattered, while he was removing it! He said that had never happened to him before.

Re: Parts and paint
Thanks a bunch!!!
I'm going to stick it on my insurance while I get it MOT'd etc. I think I'll report it damaged by debris from a waggon on the way to the mot. the crack is down on the passenger side so should pass .
At least I'll get something off the robbing bastards.
I'ts a green tinted one, I hope they are still available.

Re: Parts and paint
Well it's sort of in between matt and gloss. Doing the vents as well turned out really good.
Emailed my insurer about adding it to my policy for Sept and Oct.
That way I will be able to claim my new screen and be able to take to show when 'm selling it.

As you can see, the rear wiper is not on. It works with a direct live feed to it but not from the switch. I'm going to run a wire from the switch to the motor, to find out if the switch is buggered or there is a break in the cable somewhere.
