French Car Forum

Post by Vanny » 13 Oct 2011

It would appear that the FCF has finally moved on to PHPbb3, only 5 years behind the BXP.

Not sure if i'll be the only one, but i find it harder and harder to browse every time i go on. It desperately needs to splitting up, and a better looking style. It could do with separate model forums too.

That all said, its fecking huge, i'm gob smacked it runs off some ones home PC as reliably as it does!

cant see how mate. Even if Jim or Xac removed your admin access, both myself and Mat have admin rights, so it would be easy enough to let you back in!

Meh, Im not bothered these days anyway Chris. I keep thinking there are one or two that I would like to be a bit  with, but then whats the point. I have more important things to think about - like the digestive biscuit shortage in Australia.

That came from the Courage Brewery in Reading by J11 of M4 not Ozzieland! Gone now since the Dutch bought the business. Gone as in totally demolished and workers made redundant.

I don't know what happened on it's final demise to the brew, storage and process control equipment of what was a very modern brewery, whether Heineken moved them to Holland or they just went to the scrappie! :(

I do know however some years before when Courage was taken over by S&N that some assets were decommissioned and sold off. One of these assets was the on-site brewlab for creating new beers. This brewlab constituted a mini-brewery in its own right and was purchased by two guys who had started a micro-brewery in a garage. They purchased this equipment and integrated it into a larger farm environment in Marlow and now produce a range of very fine real ales. :D

Well worth doing their brewery tour if you're down this way. Tour costs £10 and there is then as much free beer between 7.30pm & 9.30pm as you can drink. The logo'd pint glass is yours to take home free too! [clap]

[chin] Depends on where you are, or where it's from.
All Deutscher stuff is governed by the Rheingebaut, which means nothing can be added to the ingregients. even the water condition is monitored, hence I've never had a bad pint over there.

In fact the general taste and quality of their beers and lagers is very high. :D

Don't know anything about the whereabouts of a bleach factory but Doc is right that the Courage brewery at Worton Grange just produced lager in latter days. Their beer brewing was moved to Tadcaster following it's previous acquisition by S&N.

The new brewery I mentioned which bought their brewlab is the "Rebellion Beer Company", website at:
http://www.rebellionbeer.co.uk/

This is good real ale, not chemical shit!

A sad fact following government intervention in licensing laws I see on the website is that you are now limited to 5 pints on the tour rather than the unlimited the Brewery previously allowed. Still, I suppose a tour, a free glass and 5 pints is still excellent value for £10. Especially when the pub price per pint is around £3.50 unless you go to Wetherspoons or the Toby.
