IT LIVES!!
Amazingly enough, thanks to the some what heroic efforts of Jay W, the m$$*&& lives
In a few pictures;
Jay makes small pile of tools and wills the car into submission;
Car leaves the garage for the first time in three years, unfortunately one wheel steers independent of the others, bollocks.
Floaty light suspension (note to self, need to photoshop the jack!)

Re: IT LIVES!!
Nice one, am getting my red one out of the garage for the first time since last November soon. With new gearbox, windscreen, suspensions rebuild etc. It was in danger of the same fate as Jazz if I didn't pull my finger out!

Re: IT LIVES!!
Well i've bled the front brakes, loads of air in the front left as expected.
There better, but still, slow to respond really.
Fuck it.
Handbrake slack has been reduced, max on after about 6 clicks. If the man says its too many i'll just grind the first few clicks off
All lights are working, headlight alignment doesn't look too bad, though the O/S side light is a touch intermittent.
The weather here is bloomin lovely, typical!

Yeah! The brakes on K 39 were a bit shite at first. I put it down to windblown waxoyl but it cleared after about 5 miles (at night) and went through MOT OK and with 5 clicks on the h/b

Re: IT LIVES!!
7 clicks is ok for BX so my MoT man says..
I'd expect the brakes to be shit at first to be honest, ABS cars always were a bit cack compared to non ABS cars..

No 6-speed mat, seriously tempted to just flog that box tbh, the garage simply isn't big enough for taking on proper projects. Its the core reason why its taken so long as it is.

Oh well, I'm sure the pleasure you get from actually driving it will outweigh the pleasure you'd get from an extra gear. And it will save you the embarrassment of trying to reverse into a parking space using sixth and stalling it!
Fancy a trip up to maybe the Lake District sometime this summer with it for some decent driving roads and outdoorsy stuff?

Re: IT LIVES!!
Hell yes, i have keys to a flat in Grassmere too!
It's booked in for MOT tomorrow. When i called the guy remembered me from last time i was there, 18 months ago, with the Focus, gulp.
Insurance, £186 for the year, no no-claims, restricted mileage, awesome. I think if i manage to do 3000 miles without breakdown i'll be happy
If it passess i know what i'm doing this weekend!

good luck..
from what I understand of the 6 speed box it wouldn't make it any taller geared anyway..

Re: IT LIVES!!
Well, she made it to the MOT, just.
Arrived at the round about before the MOT for the ABS light to come on. Bollocks.
PAS started really heavy but eased off with a run about town. My mysterious O/S clunk has returned, its had all new everything but TRE on the O/S, but i'm more and more convinced its down to shagged engine mountings. Tyres where flat as, so handy i stopped off for fuel and air on the way.
Really pissed about the ABS, it was working, which is unusual, up to 100m of the garage.
Brakes are still rather hesitant, but i wonder if it has one of those dampers behind the pedal like what is on the Xantia, when they come on, they come on all at once, they're just rather slow to do it.
Oh well, we will see.
