True - double de-clutching is a useful skill anyway.

I've never changed down into first as such, but doesn't everyone slip into first when still drawing to a stop, so that you can pull away again straight away?

Sounds like you're eager for a racing start, but in which case shouldn't you be going for a 16v? :P

Seriously, that technique coupled with slipping the clutch, sounds like excessive clutch wear. Even in the auto I've taken to changing into neutral while at the lights. :wink:
