Probably one for Billy I would guess...I've got a couple of cats that I removed from the Disco (the emissions are low enough to pass the MOT on LPG so I no longer need them). I had heard they are worth a bit for the scrap value, so I took them along to the local(ish!) scrap metal place and he told me they aren't worth anything due to the type they are (spiral rather than honeycomb). Was he talking bollocks just to get me to give them away, or not?
The best thing would be to get a second opinion, but that place was a 120 mile round trip, and the other one nearby is 40 miles away so It's not really economic to go on the off chance! I've seen some on eBay go for around £25 so that may be the way I'll go. Any thoughts lads?

Well, it's worth more than nothing, but much less than a honeycomb unit.
Sad, but true. Even though I'd have thought £30 a pop would be fair, if they're OE at least

Thing is, they're cut out of the exhaust so I can't see anyone being arsed to weld 'em back in. So in my mind they're only good for scrap. Non OE as well, just before we bought it the previous owner was robbed by Shit-Fit to the tune of £400 for a shocking quality system! They didn't bother with an olive where 2 parts mated together (just paste) and the system was rotted though after 7k miles.

Ahh, well, if they are non OE, then that'll explain it!
Very few scrap men pay very much for non OE cats.. Sorry..

It's due to the fact that OE stuff is documented as to the percentages of the different expensive materials within, so can be valued.
None OE is an unknown quantity and although it can't be much different, it's "too riskey" for yer average scrapper.
