Diesel leak off pipes

Anyone know if they are easily (and cheaply!) available with a stainless braiding? Smallest I can find is 6mm and I would have thought I need around 3mm. I've no doubt if I got myself to one of those chav car emporium type places they would sell them for blinging up your engine bay, but they'd charge an arm an 2 legs for the privilege! I once saw a small (grille sized) piece of standard perforated aluminium for sale for £50 FFS!!!

Firstly, why on earth would you want braided leak off pipes?
Second... Er, braided leak off pipe WAS available from places like DTM, Tom Day, and even Halfrauds last I checked...

But.... well..

Ah...well...

It's not for looks, I can tell you that (if you hadn't guessed). It's for a very good functional reason, I've half a mind to keep you guessing! :P Got to be metal braided, the fabric stuff is no good for me - I've had to replace it 3 times now in 2 years.

Thanks for the Halfrauds tip, the others I haven't heard of. :?

I hate guessing!
Spill mofo!

Tom Day is an injection specialists in Keynsham, DTM is a diesel injection specialists in Bedminster, although they have branches all over the place.

I'll enquire with both if you like?
How much does one need?

It's to make them mouse proof. The little critters keep nibbling through my leak off pipes but all the rest (as far as I can tell!) are OK.
I need about a metre and a half; if you could get a price next time you are at the places you mentioned that would be great - cheers!
I guess when I lift the engine cover to do the pipes, I could chrome the cam cover at the same time…hmmm, or maybe not.

Oi you git! What did you do that for - I thought I was going nuts and had forgotten to press submit!

'Fraid not Bandit. Been busy on the house trying to finish the sitting room for Christmas. Probably going to take it off the road for a while actually, it needs a set of tyres which I can't really afford so the plan is to put an MOT on the Disco (hopefully won't need any work) and use that for a while. The BX has got the pump issues, needs tyres, worn vibey driveshaft and the lower engine mount is shagged too (within 30k miles!) so time for a rest and a spot of fettling.

I do feel a bit guilty though, after people have taken the time to explain how to do a job, and I haven't got my arse into gear to do it. Truth is, I'm always nervous about jobs I haven't done before, even though it's technically not that difficult. But I do like the idea of a BXP meet up up here, if I can supply people with booze in return for a hand with the car (or just even the moral support) that would be ace.
Re the Disco, it hadn't been on any wish list of mine until a mate offered it to us for peanuts. But I must say it's a handy tool, very much a working vehicle and I've grown to actually like it! At the moment it's not on the road - we just use it to move stuff around at our place and pulling things. But it would be the cheapest/most sensible option to put on the road, everything is easily available for peanuts and I've not found anything difficult to work on.

If you like it, stick with it.
If everyone liked the same shit life would be uber dull, like Vanny's apparently...
I'm glad no-one else like's Lances, makes me feel rather more special for being clearly the only one with any sense!

BXP meet at yours is on then.
Bit of pump fettling, bit of boostering, then off to the knocking shop via the pub!

Cheers Chris, nice one.

Aye, we keep saying it but it *will* happen next year! Bear in mind that to get to the pub involves a 30 minute walk through (unlit) fields (and a sewage works). OK, actually round the sewage works, not through it as that would be rather grim… So we could just sit round and get pissed, and not waste a whole hour walking somehere!

You're forgetting home made fireworks!

You can make a fairly effective mortar by putting the end of a scaffold tube into a hot fire, and then dropping an aerosol can into it. Allegedly.
