:) Vinegar does indeed work Charlie, albeit very slowly.
Your best option is the acid based ally wheel cleaner, does a good job within 2 hours and stabilises the metal.
If it's very thin only an hour.

Is the wires not already there Chas.??

Wires.. erm.. believe it or not I actually wired my fogs in all on my own many years ago on a dark wet evening.
Fuck knows how, but you can copy my wiring loom if you like!

Interesting! Must get round to renovating mine and they aren't even as bad as that. I keep thinking it would be better to replace these with driving lights which are useful always unlike the fogs just for rare use (If they still work by then  )

I thought the problem with the fogs was wiring continuity but that metered out fine. The problem with these lamps seems to be the earthing connection through the body of the lamp holder (rotten lug). I modified it to connect via the wire retaining clip which worked but wasn't as meaty a connection as what it needed.

The mod worked to give lamps of brightness but the lamps expired in a short time. I thought it may be the point connections of the clip caused undue heating of the base but it also could have been the lamps were just old and failure was a coincidence.

:D Mine was one of the last batch of hatchbacks and has bloody wires with extra connections for just about anything.
The ones I meant, Charlie, are like little short spur wires on the headlights wiring loom, near the lights and they have like plastic box connectors on the end, to just plug into.
Behind the dash switch blanks there are connectors too.
That makes it a bit easier for your fuck nose school of thought, as fuck nose what goes on in between......., but it works 8) :P

wait up. Your car is a Mk2 aint it?
If so, I think I can actually remember how to do the wiring aspect (assuming you have a proper fog light switch) to make the thing work exactley as it should, even with the dull glow of the switch backlight until it's switched on and everyfink!

Charlie, you dim whitted school boy! Go ahead and cover your fogs in Vinegar if you like, but you'll just attract the sea gulls! I have said acid etcher primer stuff.

As for the wiring diagram, just copy it out the BOL! C'mon bitch get them fogs shining 'ho!

You were in the nude, and you broke your bendy! Thats some bad shit on youporn that is!

I had a "thermal event" in a Dart this evening. Sadly it didn't burn to the ground though.

If you have a proper switch, then you'll need some wire, and a relay, the rest I think I can manage!

If you dont have the proper switch, I might have one, but dont hold me to that!
